Passive voice

A passive voice sentence is one in which the subject receives an action. In this case the action is the important part of the sentence; the agent is unimportant and may even be left out completely. The sentence ‘The living room was painted last week’ tells us that the action painting was done, we are not concerned in this sentence who painted it.
