Lave and Wenger

Situated learning theory has a particular relevance to teacher training. The concept of a Community Of Practice (COP) is important here. It suggests that if a novice enters a COP (school) by interacting with experts and by doing, they will learn in a more effective way than say by listening to lectures about how to teach.
