Language Proficiency

Language proficiency is the degree to which an individual can use a language accurately, fluently, and appropriately in various contexts. Proficiency levels are often described using standardized scales, such as the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale. Proficiency encompasses skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and it reflects both the depth of linguistic knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge effectively. Language proficiency assessments help measure learners' progress and determine their readiness for academic, professional, or social use of the language.
