ICQ (Instruction Checking Questions)

Instruction Checking Questions (ICQs) are questions that teachers use to verify that students have understood instructions for a task or activity. ICQs help ensure that learners know what is expected of them before they begin working. For example, after explaining an activity, a teacher might ask, "Do we write or speak for this task?" or "How many sentences do you need to write?"
