Hierarchy of needs (Maslow)

Originally suggested as five basic needs of humans. Maslow’s basic hierarchy of needs is a motivation theory involving five needs, namely; from lowest to highest: psychological needs, safety needs, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization. The hierarchical nature means the lower levels must be met before a person can attend to the higher levels. His ideas were later extended to include areas of curiosity and personal growth.
