Dewey, John

Often quoted as the father of experiential education, Dewey’s idea that learning is about experiences led to the paradigm shift towards progressive education. Here learners are active, not passive recipients. In terms of EFL teaching, methodologies that were student-centered and participatory, using communication in an active way are all developments from Dewey’s initial ideas.
