This term is normally used to describe the act of teaching English to people whose native language is anything but English. This type of English teaching will usually take place in the student’s own (non English speaking) country; however, it can also take place elsewhere, such as during summer language camps in English speaking countries. Students are given time to memorise the picture before it is turned over. The students would then be asked to say what the people were doing in the picture. We often use more than one tense when talking to others so it is important that our students have the confidence to be able to know which tense to use in any given situation.
