This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This was a very interesting and enlightening unit. There was so much about teaching pronunciation that I would never had considered. Intonation and stress are things I don't normally think about when I'm speaking until I notice the absence of them or some abnormality in whatever I'm saying or listening to. When learning phonemes as a child, I don't ever remember learning about the phonemic symbols connected to the sounds, so after looking at the chart provided, I feel like this helps me better understand the phonemic spelling of words in dictionaries. Overall, it seems like when teaching any lessons that have to do with pronunciation, I think it would be a great idea to first show students that it might look and feel awkward, but that they're all going to be looking silly and laughing while practicing, and that that is okay.
