I learned that teaching aids are very important in any classroom. With that said, teachers use teaching aids to enhance the learning process and to engage the students throughout the lesson. The white or black board is an effective tool used to hold the student?s attention. It is very crucial for teachers to start teaching with a clean board, write neatly at all times, use different colors for highlighting particular language point and to plan the lesson on paper beforehand. There are many available teaching materials for teacher?s to take advantage of, as a teacher I would definitely include visual aids, video camera, dictionary and computer in my lessons. I believe that visual aids encourage student?s participation and help with understanding the material. A video camera is a great tool to record role-play activities and then play it for the students to highlight any errors made. Furthermore, dictionaries are used for spelling and pronunciation as well as for word definitions. Lastly, teachers and students would use computers to access materials such as worksheets and exercises and to increase their knowledge of the language.
