This unit covers, very briefly, the process and manner of evaluation of students studying English from placement of a learner in the correct level, through diagnostic tests to check areas of study which may need more work, to progress tests to evaluate what has been retained by the students and practice tests to prepare said students for the achievement or external exams they will encounter at the end of the course/semester. The unit also gave some valuable information on evaluation by the students by themselves in order to measure the relevance of the course to them and their progress in it. I was particularly interested by the idea of continuous assessment and would like to have seen the notion expanded upon.
