This unit was helpful because it showed full videos of bad and good teaching. It reinforced what previous units have stated. The takeaway that I thought was most important was that the attitude of the teacher impacts the class atmosphere tremendously from the very start. I have taken language classes from three different German teachers and I could relate to what happened in both videos. All of the teachers I have had most closely relate to what happened in the second video, but I can think of a few times that I had the first video experience. One of my teachers was clearly not having a good day and was not very engaging or positive from the beginning of the class, which definitely affected the attitude of the students and our willingness to participate. I can also relate to having had a German teacher from Germany that stated something was \"very easy\" while we were learning it for the first time. This made a lot of us uncomfortable with participating because it was not as easy to us as it obviously was to her, and we did not want to answer/participate because we were worried about sounding stupid or getting it wrong. Being aware of your tone and putting yourself in the position of the students from time to time is important because what is easy to us as native English speakers may be very challenging to students and our attitudes are contagious from the very beginning of class (good or bad).
