This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
To teach new language a teacher should take into account difficulties students may have, such as: if the language is similar to L1, and to what they already know in L2, difficulties with spelling and pronunciation, and appropriate usage of language. Before introducing a new language a teacher should choose what special language parts to teach due to the task, appropriateness to students, frequency and coverage and teachability (students' level).
Once chosen, a teacher should follow different variants of ESA, depending on a purpose and language taught. Here a teacher can use certain technics for each stage. Thus, for Engage stage teaching a vocabulary we can use: realia, mime, picture, contrast, discussion or discovery. For grammar, there are discussions, scenario building, prompting, questions and answers or using pictures, drawings.
At Study stage for vocabulary one can use: gap-filling, word search, matching, etc, for grammar: intonation and pronunciation, language in the context, word order activities, etc.
At the Activate stage, for vocabulary we can use group discussions, material productions, role-plays, etc, and for grammar: communicative games, story building, discussions or debates.
To teach a functional side of the language: agreement\\disagreement, invitation refusal, one can choose a role playing, it is a good method here.
