This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit discusses conditionals, which refer to past, present, and future possibilities. The five main conditionals discussed were zero, first, second, third, and mixed. A couple teaching ideas given were split sentences and complete the conditional activities. The second part of this unit discussed reported speech and direct speech. Direct is present tense and reported speech comes from direct. There are never question marks in reported speech and in questions the verb form changes to a positive. Part of this is backshifting, which is when the present becomes the past. Time expressions also change. There are a lot of changes that take place when going from direct to reported, or indirect, speech, which is why it is important to teach this topic slowly and in sections to avoid higher potential for error and mistakes.
