This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit focused on what defines \"receptive\" skills (reading and listening; I would refer to them as the passive comprehension skills, contrasting with the more active skills of production). Additionally, the materials from this unit provided good sample lessons for how to improve these receptive skills. These are skills I remember learning from my German and French classes. For instance, to improve listening or reading comprehension, one should first listen to/read the text to get the general idea. Then, the teacher should focus on any vocabulary that could give the student some trouble. Once that has been completed, the students can go on to listen/read a second time for more detail and then answer specific comprehension questions related to the excerpt.
