This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
As discussed in an earlier unit (Unit 3), grammar lays the groundwork in English language. Vocabulary, which is equally important, adds beauty to this language. Therefore it is important to ensure that the students are introduced to new language in a balanced and manageable way. Generally, ESA methods are applied to introduce new language. Lessons that include grammar and vocabulary follow the straight arrow ESA approach while function based lessons are more commonly approached with the boomerang or patchwork ESA structure. However, there is no written law that only these structures should be followed. The whole plan or the structure which is to be used also depends on the teacher and the learners. For example when selecting vocabulary, the teacher needs to check its appropriacy with the student and task, frequency and teachability.
