Conditionals and reported speech are covered in this unit. I have learned that there are five main types of conditionals in the English language. Conditionals are sentences containing 'if' which refer to past, present and future possibilities. The 'if' clause contains the condition that has to be satisfied before the action or state in the main clause can be realised. For reported speech, the verb tenses usually need to be changed from the direct speech because we are reporting what someone said in the past. We can use a range of activities to teach the students about conditionals and reported speech such as split sentences and media interviews.
