This Unit provides a comprehensive overview of the present tense and its uses in English. The course notes advise that grammarians and linguists talk about there only being two tenses - present and past. The advice in the lesson suggest that it is more appropriate for teachers to think about there being three tenses: past, present and future, giving a total of twelve (12)tenses. The material covered includes all forms of the present tense: simple present; present continuous; present perfect and present perfect continuous in all three forms, which
can use the affirmative, the negative, and the quetion forms. Advice and examples are given of likely traps for the learner, together with helpful examples and advice on how to approach an particular learning task.
