This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The first video was a bit painful to watch. The teacher's apathetic attitude and lack of rapport was just awkward. He didn't use their names at all, talked while facing the board, was in no way entertaining or engaging, didn't explain his concepts well, didn't use visual aids or miming, he didn't seem to have any awareness of the students' levels...I could easily continue. He monopolized the all of the speaking time and just generally created an uncomfortable atmosphere. In the second video everything was much improved. His demeanor was friendly, he made an effort to learn the students' names, he used visual aids and mimicking, he introduced concepts slowly and tied them to previous knowledge, he used group work...just a far better class.
