This unit highlighted the potential usages and advantages of lesson planning, as well as the potential pitfalls. While there is not one unanimous belief about the need for or purpose of lesson planning, there seems to be general agreement that preparedness for lessons is essential, as is adaptability. Lesson plans are only helpful if they accurately reflect the abilities of the students and teacher and are utilized as a ?working document.? Lesson plans can serve to strengthen a teacher?s organizational skills, creativity, and time management skills, as well as provide a record of what was/wasn?t accomplished or successful/unsuccessful. Ultimately, the goal is for students to achieve the lesson?s objective, and a teacher should regularly evaluate one?s style and competency to ensure that learning is accomplished.
