This unit gave me a brief history of the different types of teaching methodologies that have been used to teach English and how they have influenced today's teaching methods. The majority of this unit focused on the ESA (Engage-Study-Activate) teaching style and how to execute it. The unit explained what each part of this method entailed and how to effectively utilize it. This unit also included helpful activity ideas and samples of lesson plans using the ESA formula. The unit also explained how, when, and what to correct during a lesson in order to provide the students the help that they would potentially need. In conclusion, I found this unit to be very relevant and I feel more prepared to develop a lesson plan based on the ESA teaching method.
