The use of future tenses makes learning English even more confusing but it is important for the learner to be able to distinguish between when something will take place in the future versus the present or past. However, the similarities between tenses (for example future simple versus be going + infinitive) lead to common mistakes/errors in expression. Activities that are directly related to the students' lives such as train schedules or diaries can be utilized in the classroom to help clarify when and how the different forms of future tense are used. Students can be encouraged to talk about the weather forecast or envision their lives and careers in five to ten years time using various forms of future tense.
