This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I reviewed some of the basic past tenses used in English. These tenses are ones that I am familiar with, being that I use them every day; however, I do not often think about their technical names and usages. For example, the past simple is used for actions completed in a specific time in the past. The past continuous has several uses, including interrupted past actions. The past perfect is the past equivalent of the present perfect. The past perfect continuous is used when talking about longer circumstances in the past that had been occurring continuously. Helpful teaching ideas for this unit include narrative story telling which incorporates a combination of the different past tenses.
