This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit goes over the various classroom materials that teachers can use to make their lessons more effective. More common and traditional resources such as worksheets, textbooks, and visual aids are still very useful, but lessons can have more variation through the use of newer technology such as interactive white boards and computers. These technologies have become more readily available, but it is important not to overly rely on them in case they fail. A teacher needs to have a backup plan for lessons and activities just in case, and must also be trained on the technology to begin with.Unit 19 deals with the teaching of special groups. The most common special groups are young learners, English for business use and multilingual classrooms. The area of special learners that I'm hoping to work solely with is young learners. I have worked with young learners from the beginning of my teaching career and including now. I have never taught English as a second language but I feel confidant that I will be able to apply some of the techniques I use now for teaching English. Some of the things mentioned in the Unit are things I have already been applying to my current and past jobs.
