Pronounication is very complicated in English, especially it is so different with Mandarin. We all trt to speak like a native speaker, however, it is really difficult. I try different ways to teach my English-learning beginer, like phonics, IPC, and so on, especially phonics is regarded as a mordern and popular way to learn English. However, when we finish talking the phonics, students still can sound one word properly, because vowels have different kinds of sound in different situations. I have asked my American friends. They did not learn IPC when they are young, but just read the words, so if they meet some new words, they can not sound it, but we can if we know the phonetic of the words. We can not say which ways are better. We just need to try our best to use different techniques to engage our students and make sure they can sound it in the proper way.
