The past, present, and future tenses are commonly known by many native English speakers, however, each of these groups include four categories of simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous. Some tenses that are used regularly by native English speakers can prove difficult for language learners, who are often confused about when and how to use these tense correctly. For example, verbs such as 'hit' and 'put' remained unchanged in the present, past, and past participle. The use of various forms of the verb 'be' as an auxiliary also leads to many mistakes and errors by English language learners. However, continuous study of the usage rules of these tenses will cause less mistakes and errors over time. In addition to learning the grammar structure of verb tenses in general, learners should also memorize irregular verbs and study when to use them.
