Teachers shouldn?t solely rely on textbooks as the course material. Teachers can use authentic and created material to supplement the course textbooks. Authentic and created material make the lessons more interesting for the students and often more relevant. Authentic material such as menus, brochures, films, songs, etc. must be selected carefully and are great to use with all levels. Created materials can be graded to the level of the students. Course books are great but have their disadvantages. They should also be selected carefully. There are 4 options for course book use: Omit, Replace, Supplement, Adapt.
