This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered teaching different types of learners. There are people that know absolutely no English, those that have been exposed to a little bit of English but can do almost nothing with it, young beginners, adult beginners, and even students with completely different language characters. Each of these groups of people will need to be taught differently. Young learners will have a short attention span and will need a lot of variation and games, while adult learners are typically more serious about learning English and will want a professional teacher. Regardless, it is important to be consistent and to get students to immerse themselves in English.
