This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was very similar to the one before that discussed reading and listening skills. This unit discussed speaking and writing, and how incredibly important they are.
Encouraging students to speak in class can be a task, due to cultural differences, previous experiences, fears of being wrong, etc. It will be important to create a classroom that is engaging and comfortable for the students so that they feel confident in speaking English.
Writing can be a huge challenge if instructing students who use a different lettering system, as well as the fact that English has many letter combinations that make the same sounds; for example the 'sh' sound in 'shell' and the 'su' in 'sugar' sound the same, but are written differently.
Fortunately, there are many ways to encourage students to participate, such as games, role-play, and group drilling with individual participation.
