Productive skills are equally important as receptive skills. Though reading and listening can be equally divided skills, writing and speaking tend to not be as equally taught and/or learned. Unfortunately writing skills are too often overlooked and neglected. But the reality is that for almost all people learning an additional language, the other languages tend to be viewed and learned from a more structured and systematic approach, hence writing skills plays a critical role in developing this well-structured mastery of additional languages. But, none of this matters if we cannot engage the students and keep them engaged. Therefore, once again, it is paramount to build that rapport with students in order to help them learn.
