This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I read about productive skills which is speaking and writing. It was important to know reasons for communication. The difference between Accuracy activities and fluency activities and that they carry equal importance. I learned about types of speaking activities; How to encourage students to speak; Techniques to encourage interaction; ESA (engage, study, and activate) creative speaking lesson; and guidelines for a creative speaking activity. Writing skills also have same factors as those for a speaking lesson and also need to be considered and incorporated. It was interesting to know that TEFL students are more interested in speaking than writing skills. The difference about writing is spelling, handwriting, layout and punctuation, and creative writing if not done correctly can have a negative impact in understanding the written message. ESA creative writing activity lesson was also important to learn about. Finally, games, it was important to learn how games could be incorporated into EFL teaching.
