This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this chapter, I learned about how to teach specific groups including multilingual, business students, and young learners. Each group has its advantages and disadvantages. The main concept is to understand what your group needs. Whether it's one on one instruction, or in a big group, the teacher must know the their students' needs and what their needs are. For business students, a \"Needs Analysis\" worksheet elicits a lot of information about what those students need. For younger learners, teachers will need to think creatively about how their students will benefit from the material given. As a teacher, I believe that at the beginning of the class, the teacher has to do their own research on their group, and have an overall understanding of the students' background, whether it's the country they're from, or where their previous educational background etc. Teachers must always be ready to improvise or change lesson plans based on what their students bring to the table.
