This unit focused on all the different ways that pronunciation and phonetics are taught and heard in the English language. I learned much about how to teach pronunciation and about the international phonemic alphabet which helps anyone who is looking for phonetic guidance, no matter which country they originate from or accent they have, the student can see the phonetic spelling of a word to sound it out. This unit also covered stresses and intonation and I learned how important these are to teach students so that they are properly understood. If stress is placed on the wrong part of a word, then the meaning one is trying to convey may be lost.
