This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit is a summary of parts of speech, giving many examples, as well as giving a few teaching ideas. I learned to my surprise that there are many rules which I knew nothing about,
eg the indefinite articles 'a' and 'an' are used depending not on the first letter vowel/consonant of the noun, but on the vowel/consonant sound of the noun eg a university
eg there is a rule giving the order of adjectives in a sentence ie size, age, colour, material eg the big old white brick house.
I also find it a relief to know that all these rules are documented, something which will be extremely useful when teaching: when I have helped international students in the past with their English, I have done so out of my own knowledge as an English speaker, with no knowledge of many of these rules.
