In this Unit I have learned that there are 3 ways to assess students language level, they are through Tutorials, Evaluation by the students and by Testing. I have also learned that giving a diagnostic test at the beginning of the course can help the teacher to have a better idea of the strengths the students have in English, the skills that each student has as an individual and the areas of English that the students may be lacking in. I have learned that the different ways of monitoring progress internally are; with Homework, Unit exams, Midterm exams and Final exams. An additional advantage to continually monitoring the progress of the students, is not only for the school or institute but also can be a way for the student to evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses. Three categories of external exams that can be chosen are; Academic, Business and General. With each of these their are different exams that can be chosen to better suit the specific goal or need of the individual.
