This unit talked about some common issues that teachers see in the classroom, especially during the first lesson. It is very important from the beginning to establish a good rapport with the students and have a comfortable learning environment that encourages all to participate. It is also very important to gauge the language level of students so that you can make sure they have the capability of successfully accomplishing the tasks that you ask them to complete in English. There will be varying levels of English learners in the class the majority of the time, but the stronger students can often help the weaker or more reluctant ones and help them gain more confidence with activities such as role-play and pair work. It is also very important to always speak in English and to constantly and kindly remind students to do the same. It will help them to make the most of their language learning experience!
