Lesson plans serve as particularly useful organizational tools for new teachers that have yet to establish the common classroom intuition 'muscle memory' illustrated by veteran teachers. The lesson plan plays various important roles beyond simply organization. The lesson plan helps teachers to gauge how much material they expect to cover that day, the learning objectives for student's after prepared activities are finished and anticipated issues or challenges that students may face. The lesson plan will also serve as a recording document of what the class has accomplished thus far, reminding the teacher to not repeat or accidentally skip over any chapters.
