This unit went over the use of evaluation and testing. It highlighted the different types of tests - placement tests, diagnostic tests, external tests, progress tests and practice tests and when it is appropriate and beneficial to use for example, practice tests are best used in the lead up to external tests as they are of similar layouts and test for similar things. Placement tests on the other hand allow for teachers to see how much students know and group them accordingly but are not as in-depth as diagnostic tests which should be done to determine the overall bulk of knowledge the student has about English language.
