This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 5 dealt with classroom management topics such as the importance of using gestures, classroom arrangement, proper disciplinary actions, creating rapport between students and learners and how to group students accordingly. Having some tutoring and substitute teaching experience, I felt that I had a fairly decent grasp of the unit content. However, I did learn that you should always use a student's name at the end when asking a question in order to maintain classroom attentiveness, to keep language simple when giving instruction, and to refrain from asking students 'Do you understand?' Instead, you should ask the student to explain back to you so you can check to see if the student actually understands the material in question.
