A big part of learning vocabulary next to understanding when to use it is also memorizing the words. In this process of understanding what category a student is learning, such as clothing, it is important that the student spends time with the material and memorize the different words. Memorization will play a role because not all the words will have a relationship with previous material or be similar to their native language. It will be important that students get that time alone to become familiar with the vocabulary list, which will make individual activities important. Once students have had time with these activities like crosswords will group or partner work be important to learning the structure and forms of the language. This is important because if the students do not have a good understanding of the vocabulary the lessons that follow will be more difficult to teach and for the students to understand.
