This unit is about the various theories, methodologies and techniques that an EFL teacher can incorporate in different ways into their lesson plans and classes. For example, prior to the study of this unit I knew very little about the various EFL teaching methodologies and the huge differences (and sometimes similarities) between them. I usually incorporate the Grammar-translation methodology, where the student learns a new language by finding equivalents in their own mother tongue, into my own existing classes. However, I feel that now I can expand upon this and include various other methodologies into my classes to add variety to my own teaching and the students? learning. For my larger classes, I aim to apply the Communicative Language Teaching (CCL) methodology for the use of role-play and simulation during the class time.
