This unit was about planning lessons. I never knew there was a debate on whether lesson planning was a valid exercise or not. Personally I like to have a rough idea of the activities but not have a fixed time structure for each. Students learn more in the tasks they enjoy and have fun in, so long as they are staying focused on the task at hand.
The self assessment sheet is very nice, but would be time consuming to be completed after every lesson. The feedback could be worth the time put in though. Especially when starting with new students.
Tracking progress and recording what was done in the lesson is very important. Both the lesson plans and the self assessment would be useful in doing this. The lesson plan on it's own would not be enough because their might be parts which were pushed back due to students enjoying an activity or the need to go slower on a certain learning objective.
