This unit deals with the techniques in teaching vocabulary, grammar, and functions. Vocabulary is central to language acquisition. Without enough vocabulary to use, students will not be able to express their ideas nor do they understand others. It is therefore important to bear in mind factors such appropriacy to the students and task, frequency of coverage, and teachability in selecting what vocabulary to teach. Teaching grammatical structures effectively is determined by the students? language proficiency and the syllabus used for the course. On the other hand, teaching language functions need to be contextualized in areas such inviting, refusing, agreeing, and/or disagreeing and whether it be formal, informal, tentative or technical in use.
