This unit presents information on what an instructor needs to know and consider prior to and when he/she introduces new vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions. It also gives a list of possible activities an instructor could use during each phase of the ESA structure as well as sample lessons following the ESA format for teaching new vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions. I find the list of possible activities for each phase of the ESA structure when teaching new language helpful because having a variety of learning activities in the classroom helps students stay engaged and motivated. The information on what students need to know when they learn new vocabulary, grammatical structures, and new language is also useful because it helps the instructor focus and narrow in on the lesson objectives. In other words, the instructor as well as the students would not waste time on teaching and learning, respectively, unnecessary information.
