This unit provided an overview on the development of lesson plans in preparation for teaching in the classroom. I found this unit to be particularly helpful, as I have never created a lesson plan myself. I appreciated the focus on creating a lesson plan for each individual class, but also creating an overarching plan for more long-term goals for both the students and the teacher. The sample lesson plans were extremely helpful as it definitely helps to write down one's goals and plans for the class in order to refer to during class and afterwards as a record. I also thought the self-evaluation was a great idea, in order to track the teacher's own progress, reflect on the class immediately after, and use this information to improve lessons in the future. The unit really stressed the importance of keeping lesson plans flexible, as a general reference guide rather than a strict plan. This will allow the teacher to adjust the lesson according to the students' performance, understanding, and interest in each lesson.
