Teaching materials' types: authentic (materials that have been produced for a purpose other than the classroom) and non-authentic (materials that have been produced, either by an educational company or individual teachers for the specific purpose of being a teaching aid). Teaching materials are worksheets, communicative activity sheets, pictures, flashcards, drawing, charts and other visual aids, CDs, mp3s, recordings and other audio aids, company docs, authentic materials (newspapers, magazines etc). The teacher needs to have a very clear idea of: 1. What language are the students trying to test or use; 2. How are the materials going to be used in the classroom; 3. How is the teacher going to show how to use them; 4. At which level are the materials to be used -, before designing the materials for the classroom. Lesson planning: a lesson plan tells the teacher what should happen throughout the lesson in a series of stages; is also a record of what the teacher has covered with the class.
