Unit 12 discusses speaking and writing. The unit acknowledges that students are likely least focused on writing because they are more concerned with speaking the language. However, writing is just as important as speaking. The unit distinguishes the difference between accuracy and fluency, and describes different ways to exercise both parts of language learning. This unit also stresses the importance of making students feel comfortable enough in their environment to practice new concepts aloud. Using topics of interest for the students encourages students to WANT to practice speaking and writing about those topics.
