This unit taught me some problem solving skills for problems that teachers will often face. I learned about the difference between new and existing classes. For new classes, not only is it important that I establish rapport with the students, but that I try to help facilitate the students and getting better rapport with one another. I also learned some techniques for large classes, which is helpful because when I taught in Japan, I often teach classes of 40. I learned that worksheets, pair work, and choral drilling are helpful ways to keep the students talking. I also learned that listening texts should not be avoided, and that I can try playing it again, or maybe even playing it slower for the students to have another chance to understand.
