This unit explores the different tests that a language teacher gives to students in the classroom and the various tests available outside the classroom for business, life skills and professional language skills testing. A placement test is given to students before they start a course. A diganostic test is given at the beginning of a new course so that a teacher knows what students know and don't know. Progress tests are given periodically during the language course to measure how well the students are learning the material. Practice tests are given to prepare student for external examinations which are given to test proficiency at various levels.
