I have learnt many things from this unit.
It is important to know how we articulate sounds in English and the science behind how we make such sounds. As well intonation and its effect on the context of a sentence is equally important.
I can now deliver a more informative explanation on both points to the students.
So far, in my short teaching career, i have found it virtually impossible to have an effective speaking class without touching on phonetics and intonation. Teaching students to recognize sounds based on spelling alone is too confusing.
Providing lessons on intonation and phonetics using the listed teaching methods will make my classes enjoyable, interesting and effective.
