I thought that this was helpful to think about because it gave me a deeper understanding of my students. They aren't coming just to come, instead they really do want to be learning and making headway. They might need to take different external exams, so I would want to make sure that my students were as prepared as they needed to be for their various tests. Maybe asking students at the beginning of the teaching year what they want to work on would be helpful. And then reassessing their knowledge throughout the classes. I also think that the tests help the students know what they know and what they need to study.
